Atorvastatin is used together with a proper diet to lower cholesterol and triglyceride (fats) levels in the blood. This medicine may help prevent medical problems (eg, chest pain, heart attack, or stroke) that are caused by fats clogging the blood vessels.

Uses

ATORCARE 40 is prescribed for the following conditions:

  • Atorvastatin 40 mg is used, in conjunction with diet and exercise, primarily to lower high cholesterol and fats in the blood, and to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and related cardiovascular problems in adults with or without existing heart dise: Prevention of cardiovascular disease: It is prescribed to reduce the risk of future problems in adults who have risk factors such as high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, or a family history of early heart disease.

Important Considerations

  • Atorvastatin is contraindicated during pregnancy or in female patients who may become pregnant. All female patients of childbearing age should receive counseling on the potential risks to a fetus should they become pregnant while on atorvastatin.:
