Uses

ATORCARE 10 is prescribed for the following conditions:

  • High Blood Pressure (Hypertension): It helps lower blood pressure, which reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as strokes and heart attacks
  • Chronic Stable Angina: It helps in the symptomatic treatment of predictable chest pain caused by heart disease.
  • Vasospastic Angina (Prinzmetal's Angina): It is effective for treating this rare form of angina, which is caused by sudden spasms of the coronary arteries.
  • Coronary Artery Disease (CAD): In patients with documented CAD, it can reduce the risk of hospitalization for angina and the need for coronary revascularization procedures.

Important Considerations

Please keep the following points in mind while using ATORCARE 10:

  • Dosage: The typical starting dose is 5 mg once daily, but a doctor may start with a lower dose (2.5 mg) for elderly patients or those with liver problems. The maximum dose is generally 10 mg once daily.
  • Administration: It should be taken orally once daily, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level in the blood.
  • Long-Term Treatment: This medication is for long-term control, not a cure. Do not stop taking it abruptly without consulting a doctor, as symptoms or blood pressure may worsen.
  • Common Side Effects: The most common side effects include swelling of the ankles or feet, headache, fatigue, nausea, and dizziness.
  • Interactions: Avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice while on this medication, as it can increase the levels of amlodipine in the body and worsen side effects.
