Uses

GLYCARE SR 500 is prescribed for the following conditions:

  • ype 2 Diabetes: Metformin is a first-line treatment for adults and children (ages 10 and older) with type 2 diabetes, especially in overweight patients, when diet and exercise alone are not enough to control blood sugar levels.: Gestational Diabetes: It is also used to manage blood sugar in pregnant women who develop gestational diabetes.
  • Prediabetes: Metformin may be prescribed to help prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes in individuals at high risk (those with prediabetes).:

Important Considerations

Please keep the following points in mind while using GLYCARE SR 500:

  • Metformin should be avoided in those with severely compromised renal function (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min), acute/decompensated heart failure, severe liver disease and for 48 hours after the use of iodinated contrast dyes due to the risk of lactic a:
